Epipremnums, which are a genus of climbing perennials in the araceae family, are often colloquially called Pothos. This is a misnomer and should not be confused with the genus of plant also called Pothos, which is a member of the same family. Epipremnum Aureum is the species which most commonly falls victim to this.
Epipremnum plants are most commonly found in tropical forests in the wild, spanning across Asia from Southern China, and then onto Australia.
Pothos ‘Cebu Blue’
Botanical Name: Epipremnum Pinnatum
Sometimes known as ‘Devil’s Ivy’, this plant’s leaves grow in a blue green colour, and will split into a blocky pattern upon maturation. If not allowed to climb, the Devil’s Ivy will not achieve maturation – this will not damage the plant! Allowed to climb, the Devil’s Ivy is quite a behemoth, reaching a maximum height of 14 feet and a leaf span of four feet!
As a climber, Cebu Blue should be protected from most sunlight, as is the case when it grows in the wild. A finely textured soil is a good idea for the Cebu Blue, as it likes regular watering but will not tolerate wet surroundings for too long. If Cebu Blue seems to go dormant during winter, it should be moved to warmer surroundings as it is supposed to be evergreen.
Plant Care
Soak and let it dry out a little.
What the engineer calls “soil”, everyone else just calls “dirt”. Just your normal well drained mix will be fine
Good to know your pets are safe around this one!
General Care: Normal household humidity is fine.
