Silver Dollar Vine

Botanical Name: Xerosicyos Danguyi

Sometimes called the Silver Dollar Vine, this Madagascan vine has a set of deep green, almost grey leaves.  These leaves are round, somewhat resembling coins, and are arranged on either side of the stem. The Silver Dollar Vine produces yellow flowers, but these are incredibly small, measuring at less than a centimetre.

The Silver Dollar Vine can withstand cold more easily than one might expect, generally doing well until the temperature drops below five degrees Celsius, making it a good balcony plant for those in mild climates, though those further north may fare better keeping it indoors.  Its soil should be light and well-draining and must dry out completely between each watering in summer. It should not be watered at all in winter. The Silver Dollar Vine likes a good deal of light but will not falter in partial shade.
