Colocasia, belonging to the same family as Alocasia, shares many similarities with the Alocasia genus. However, it usually has larger leaves with a downward tilt.
Elephant’s Ear
Botanical Name: Colocasia White Lava
The Colocasia White Lava is known colloquially as an Elephant’s Ear, as it is large and similarly shaped. It is a green plant which almost always shows a variegated pattern, with a stark white venous structure branching from a striking purple heart. This plant often grows to be around three feet, so it is best kept as a standing plant.
An inexpensive soil is fine for these plants, but a moisture-retaining soil will reduce the level of maintenance needed, as in a dry soil they can demand quite a lot of water. These plants like a lot of sunlight, so they grow best in gardens, on balconies or – if at all possible – in a greenhouse or conservatory. When kept well, they are evergreen.

Rich, well drained and a nice crumble consistency but slightly acidic
Kids and pets should be kept away from Elephant Ears because they can be poisonous, unless cooked. But I also wouldn’t recommend you cooking and eating such a plant anyway
