Peperomia is a genus of over 1000 species of small perennials native to Central & South America. They tend to have short, sturdy stems. Their leaves usually have a fleshy texture and will not grow to more than four inches. The colour and shape of a Peperomia’s leaves varies between each species.
Raindrop Peperomia
Botanical Name: Peperomia Polybotrya
Raindrop Peperomia have deep green, fleshy leaves with veins branching faintly and delicately from a small lime green centre. The ‘raindrop’ moniker reflects their shape, which is similar to that of a drop of water as it hits a window. Raindrop Peperomia are fairly compact plants and should fit on desks and windowsills.
Raindrop Peperomia are tender plants and should not be kept outdoors or exposed to direct sunlight. Temperatures should not fall below 10 degrees Celsius, and the Raindrop Peperomia should not be watered in winter or when temperatures are cool. During summer, the soil should be allowed to dry between each watering.
